Topic 2

In fact, I am not a user of facebook because of the internet environment of China. But I also use other social network or web sites to communicate with my friends and my family. Because the functions of these website are similar to each other, like, you can tag a friend or someone you know in a picture in a crowd of strangers.

After reading the article "Facebook's Privacy Issues Are Even Deeper Than We Knew", I think this kind of Issues are not only happened in Facebook, it is widely happened in our social network.Even in this blog, you can target on my user information, and see my pictures on google+, and find more information about me step by step if you have enough patience.

If we want to focus on the privacy issues, Facebook is only a little tip of the iceberg. Every trace of using the social network is the mark to show who we really are.

For example: A friend identifies a furniture advertisement posted by me in a forum, and she speaks nicely to help me in the advertisement. Then somebody check her user information of her and find there's a blog address. The "somebody" check out my friend's address, find out a tagged picture of us and the name of the tag is similar to the nickname witch i used to post the advertisement. The"somebody" links to my blog from my friend's bolg and see another picture i took in front of my university. OK, the "somebody" now knows I am a MMU student, how I look like, and also i am selling furniture!

If you are worried about the pictures of yourself posted on internet, you should know the point is not the witch website it is, but who is the poster. Actually, most of time, it is yourself, or your friends.

So, we should not blame the social website about the privacy issues. when we use the social network, we know about the functions and how it effect at the very beginning. The information, pictures, speachs, ect, all posted and published by ourselves. We should control the method of using the social websites, like Facebook, instead of worring about the functions effect to our personal privacy. We should be responsiable for ourselves.

Are you aware of this?

Actually, no.Why? please read the statement above.

Would you still stay on Facebook after knowing this?

Yes i will. Why? please read the statement above.

  1. I agree that Facebook is only a little tip of the iceberg, the major problem here is that people have the tendency to post almost anything about themselves without regard of their own safety, this kind of attitude need to be change in my opinion.
